We had planned to setup a demo platform for our customers so they can test the various open source CMS available in the market (website, blog, forum, e-commerce).
This project was aiming at supporting our recommendations and illustrate them with examples or real-world case studies.
After the first discussion with our developers, we realized that the project was bigger than expected and the following topics should be addressed:
- Legal: what about the responsibility of content tests that could be integrated?
- Security: Security of the platform and the updates of installed modules.
- Spam: The spammers who would find a selection of targets with public administration.
- Clean Environment: A recurrent and automatic restoration of environments is necessary.
Nice surprise: This weekend we discovered that this service was existing for free ( http://www.opensourcecms.com). A total of 275 open source tools available for testing!…
And of course the major industry players are there: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Typo3, Concrete5, etc.
E-commerce, forum, and wiki all the sources are to be tested online. We even discovered a dashboard for SEO. This one will lead to a full test soon on diplotomatic.
